Cathedral of St. John The Divine - 110th to 113th Sts., overlooking Morningside Park; begun 1892; choir and two of seven chapels by Heins & La Farge, consecrated April 19, 1911; cost $3,500,000. Choir School fd. '01, built by $150,000 gift of Mrs. J.J. Blodgett; $500,000 endowment by F.G. Bourne. Rev. Wm. M. Grosvenor, Dean; Rt. Rev. David H. Greer, Bishop. St. Luke's Hospital (at far right) founded 1846.


Harlem - View from southern end of Cathedral Heights, Morningside Park in foreground, "L" road running from Columbus Avenue through W. 110th St. (Cathedral Parkway) into Eighth Ave. at height of 73 ft.; Harlem, founded 1658, has 825,000 inhabitants; if a seperate city it would rank fourth among American municipalities; bounded on north and east by the Harlem and East Rivers.
