Originally published in 2006 and reprinted in 2008, "Times Queer" by author Mykola Dementiuk, is a fictional, disturbing look into the sexually dysfunctional world of main character Richard Kozlovsky.

Richard, a Catholic school boy, grows up on the Lower East Side in New York City and has his first sexual experience at age seven, on a subway ride, where he is fondled by a strange man as his parents sit nearby, aparently oblivious. This experience sets the tone for what is to follow - frequent trips to Times Square's porno movie houses, public masturbation, casual, disconnected sexual encounters with classmates and with older men in the dark recesses of parks frequented by predatory men looking for young lovers. Eventually, Richard (aka Ricky) becomes the predator, occasionally using his youthful looks and sexual come-ons as a pre-text to mugging men for thier money - all this and more occuring by the time Ricky reaches the eighth grade.

Ricky eventually meets a woman of obvious disrepute outside one of the many Times Square movie houses and immediately becomes her pimp, selling her off to a strange man for $10.00 (or was it only $5.00?). A few days later he runs into her again, this time in Bryant Park, where they share a cigarette, a few laughs, then eventually they head to her seedy, abandoned 10th Avenue apartment. Ricky finds her beautiful "like a Times Square porno dream", until he has his way with her, losing his virginity in the process, after which he immediately finds her to be a disgusting whore, to be used and forgotten...until weeks later when she was needed, again, for his gratification.

.

When he eventually finds her, she is on her knees in the Bryant movie house on 42nd Street, doing what she does best, pleasuring a guy sitting in a no-doubt sticky seat as he watches the action taking place on the big screen. When she is finished and the guy gets up and leaves, Ricky approaches "Red", as he calls her, and trhey leave the theatre and find themselves in another abandoned squat where she takes her lovers and/or customers. After another night of sexual abandon with Red, Ricky again feels the need to get away from her, which he does. But he is soon thinking about her again. Unfortunately for him, he will have to wait his turn, she has business to attend to...there is money to be made, an endless supply of horny men visiting the porno capital of the free world to cater to. Ricky bides his time wandering the streets of the Deuce, spending time thinking dirty thoughts while looking at porno magazines in one of the shops at the Port Authority bus station.

.

During his time wandering the streets over the course of the following days, Ricky has a chance encounter with an old school mate, again in the confines of the Bryant movie house - this time in the bathroom. "Joey" demands that Ricky pleasure him, Ricky, just trying to take a leak, afraid he is becoming a homosexual already, declines. Joey insists. Ricky struggles away and runs from the bathroom as Joey shouts obscenities behind him. The next several days are spent in fear that he might encounter Joey on the streets again and then who knows what might happen?

The reader does not have to wait long to find out. Just a few days later, Ricky sees Joey, along with his beloved/reviled Red, heading into Bryant park. He follows them and is soon involved in a scene he could have never expected to unfold...
